About the Organization

Background

Denise Brown is a local Realtor, fundraiser, volunteer, but a mother first. For the past 4 years, Denise has organized Brooke’s Butterfly Bash, LLC, a non-profit to benefit children and families battling Lupus through the Lupus Foundation Florida Chapter and Tampa General Hospital.

Denise’s passion for this cause is her way of keeping her daughter, Brooke Brown’s, legacy of helping others. Brooke lost her battle to Lupus in October 2017. She was just 18.  Brooke’s illness over the years defined her purpose of helping children by wanting to become a pediatric nurse. Denise now makes sure she is seeing Brooke’s purpose through. Denise’s goal is to prevent another child from suffering, like Brooke.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to establish a legacy in Brooke’s Brown name by helping children with Lupus from suffering through strength, convalescent and purposefulness. In doing so, we provide these families with financial assistance as they navigate their health journey.

Foundation Partners

Lupus Foundation - Florida Chapter: The Lupus Foundation of America is the foremost national nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and cure for lupus and providing support, services, and hope to the over 1.5 million people affected by lupus in this country. Lupus Foundation of Amerida’s Florida Chapter is the only statewide lupus organization in Florida. The chapter provides information, educational programs, support, and personalized help to the over 100,000 people living with lupus in Florida and their loved ones while supporting and advocating for advances in lupus research, including leading efforts in pediatric lupus.

Tampa General Hospital Foundation: We have included the Tampa General Hospital as a beneficiary to provide families suffering from lupus with financial assistance as they navigate their health journey. Funds can cover expenses needed, pharmaceutical costs and equipment needed to aid in the patient’s personal treatment.
